Dongdaemun-gu in Seoul held a briefing Monday at the district office for neighborhood center staff to strengthen coordination ahead of the 2027 Warm Winter campaign, a community welfare drive run under the Hope Ondol initiative.

The session brought together officials from the district office's welfare policy division, staff from 15 neighborhood centers responsible for the campaign, and representatives from the Seoul branch of the Community Chest of Korea.

The briefing was organized to deepen participants' understanding of their roles before the campaign gets underway and to build practical skills for efficiently collecting and distributing cash donations and in-kind gifts.

Community Chest of Korea officials led the session, walking attendees through the campaign's 2027 direction, donation intake and distribution procedures, and in-kind gift processing and management. The briefing paid particular attention to proper donation handling and transparent distribution protocols. A question-and-answer segment allowed frontline staff to raise concerns and clarify practical questions.

The district office, neighborhood centers and the Community Chest of Korea also discussed each organization's responsibilities during the campaign and explored ways to identify local giving resources and deliver support to those in need in a timely manner.

Dongdaemun-gu District Mayor Choi Dong-min said the Warm Winter campaign is "a meaningful project that channels the community's warmth and generosity into real help for neighbors in difficulty." He added that in 2027, the district would continue working alongside civic partners to reach more residents and ensure that no one who needs help is overlooked.

The 2027 Hope Ondol Warm Winter campaign runs from Nov. 15 through Feb. 14 next year. Funds and donations collected will go toward a range of welfare programs for low-income and vulnerable residents, including support for living expenses, medical costs and housing.
