Songpa-gu's tailored local welfare services and tight-knit social security framework built through public-private cooperation have earned national recognition.

Seoul's Songpa-gu has been selected as an outstanding local government in the Ministry of Health and Welfare's "2025 Community Social Security Plan Implementation Evaluation," receiving a special award.

The district announced Tuesday that it received the special award at a performance-sharing ceremony held Friday at Government Complex Sejong.

The evaluation was conducted under Article 39 of the Act on the Use and Provision of Social Security Benefits and the Discovery of Eligible Recipients, assessing the 2025 community social security plan implementation results of local governments nationwide. Evaluators examined the thoroughness of each plan, the degree to which targets were met, the appropriateness of project execution, and efforts toward project management and capacity building, ultimately selecting 44 outstanding local governments.

Songpa-gu has been pursuing 9 strategies and 43 tailored projects under the goal of "welfare that leaves no one behind." The district has focused on identifying services that reflect the welfare needs and characteristics of each neighborhood, and on reducing gaps in welfare coverage through public-private cooperation.

Particularly well-regarded were the district's efforts to deliver welfare services suited to local conditions and to strengthen the community's social security framework through systematic project management, contributing to improved resident welfare.

"This award is a meaningful achievement made possible by the residents, the community social security council, private welfare organizations and everyone who worked together with one heart," District Mayor Seo Gang-seok said. "We will continue to attentively address the diverse welfare needs of our residents, strengthen public-private cooperation, and build a warm and inclusive city where no one is left behind."
