Meeting chaired by Im Gwang-hyeon; officials to probe how data was leaked, scope of exposure and potential damage
Cheong Wa Dae vows full overhaul of overseas trip security protocols
Cheong Wa Dae convened an emergency meeting Tuesday over the leak of personal information belonging to members of a presidential overseas delegation, launching an investigation into how the breach occurred and who bears responsibility.
Presidential Chief Spokesperson Kang Yu-jung said in a written briefing Tuesday that the meeting was held that morning, chaired by Presidential Chief of Staff Im Gwang-hyeon.
Im said at the meeting that the leak of personal data belonging to the presidential delegation was "a serious matter that cannot be taken lightly."
Im called for a thorough investigation into how the information was leaked, the scope of the exposure and whether any actual harm had resulted, and said accountability among the relevant agencies must be clearly established.
Im also asked the relevant ministries and agencies to conduct a full review of the security management framework for presidential overseas trips and to swiftly draw up and implement effective comprehensive countermeasures to prevent a recurrence.
