Namyangju appointed Lim Woo-jin, a French government-certified architect (DPLG), as its policy adviser on architecture and urban landscape Monday, enlisting expert guidance to improve the city's streetscape and the quality of its public buildings.

Lim is a globally recognized architect who has worked extensively between South Korea and France. Lim contributed to the design of Ewha Womans University's campus complex (ECC) alongside French architect Dominique Perrault, and has twice received the Leonardo da Vinci Award — the top prize in the design category at the International Biennial of Contemporary Art of Florence in Italy.

The appointment ceremony was held at a project site rather than a municipal office, marking the first time the city has conducted such a ceremony in the field. Namyangju Mayor Choi Hyeon-deok presented Lim with the appointment letter and toured key project sites with Lim to discuss plans for shaping the city's public spaces.

The two first reviewed plans for a grass plaza and four-season garden to be built over a covered section of the Gyeongui–Jungang Line railway in Dasan-dong. They then visited the planned site of a waterfront cultural complex, where they exchanged views on the layout of citizen-friendly spaces including a riverside terrace and an observation deck.

Lim is expected to offer professional insight and ongoing advisory support across a range of areas, including urban development strategy, architectural planning and public design.

"We will actively incorporate architect Lim Woo-jin's humanistic philosophy of space — rooted in putting people first — into the city's major public projects," Mayor Choi said. "We will complete a spatial transformation that elevates the city's character through citizen-centered space design."
