The planned site of the Gimpo Ara public housing district in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province, and surrounding areas will be redesignated as a land transaction permit zone for the next three years.
Gimpo city announced Monday that parts of the city will be designated and adjusted as a land transaction permit zone from Tuesday through Nov. 2, 2029, in accordance with a Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport notice (No. 2026-1362).
The adjustment covers a total of 18.22 square kilometers, including 1.30 square kilometers in Sau-dong and 16.92 square kilometers across Singok-ri, Tae-ri, Punggok-ri and Hyangsan-ri in Gochon-eup.
The threshold areas requiring permits remain unchanged from current standards.
Under the existing rules, land transaction contracts require prior approval for plots exceeding 60 square meters in residential zones, 150 square meters in commercial and industrial zones, and 200 square meters in green zones within urban areas. Outside urban areas, the thresholds are 500 square meters for farmland, 1,000 square meters for forest land and 250 square meters for other land types.
Anyone seeking to enter into a land transaction contract for a plot exceeding these thresholds must obtain advance approval from the relevant local government.
The specific parcels and boundaries covered by the designation can be confirmed through the official maps posted on the websites of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Toji-eum land information portal. The published maps serve as the final reference for all determinations.
"We will actively communicate the updated zones and permit standards to minimize inconvenience for residents," a Gimpo city official said, adding that contracts concluded without the required permit will be void and may result in criminal penalties.
