An eyewitness account of someone leaving a used baby diaper on an instant rice shelf at a hypermarket has sparked public outrage.
On Sunday, a photo and account of a soiled baby diaper spotted on a food display shelf at a hypermarket in Daegu were posted on the social media platform Threads.
The person who posted the account, identified only as A, shared a photo of the diaper sitting on top of boxes of instant rice for sale. "I sincerely hope whoever came to a hypermarket in Daegu and left their baby's wet diaper on top of the instant rice reflects on what they did. It's truly shameful," the post read.
The poster added, "A parent with a baby might have forgotten it there — things can get hectic with a young child, so that's possible. But no one knows the full story, and seeing it like this is genuinely shocking."
Online users who saw the photo reacted with a range of comments, including "Common decency has gone missing," "Forgot and just left it there?" "It's inexcusable behavior no matter how you look at it," and "Not even the excuse of forgetting to pick it up makes this acceptable."
