Yeoncheon-gun announced Monday that it received an institutional citation from the Ministry of Economy and Finance for its contributions to large-scale statistical surveys conducted between 2024 and 2026.

The Ministry of Statistics organized the awards to honor institutions and individuals who contributed to the successful execution of four major national surveys: the 2024 household and housing baseline survey, the 2025 population and housing census, the 2025 agricultural, forestry and fisheries census, and the 2026 economic census.

In total, Yeoncheon-gun received eight citations across institutional and individual categories — the institutional citation from the Ministry of Economy and Finance, individual citations from the same ministry for one civil servant and five survey workers, and a citation from the Minister of Statistics for one additional survey worker.

The county was recognized for providing systematic administrative support throughout the survey process, including managing survey personnel and districts, supporting fieldwork and promoting resident participation.

The county also worked to address the challenges of conducting surveys in a rural area, coordinating closely between survey workers and relevant agencies to secure accurate and reliable statistical data.

The population and housing census, the agricultural, forestry and fisheries census, and the economic census are foundational national statistics that capture the state of the population, households, housing, agriculture, forestry, fisheries and the broader industrial structure. Their results serve as baseline data for policy development and regional planning by both the central government and local authorities.

Yeoncheon-gun said it plans to build on the recognition to raise awareness of the importance of national statistics and to continue strengthening its support systems for accurate data production and improved survey quality.

"This award is a shared achievement — it reflects the dedication of survey workers who carried out their duties responsibly under difficult conditions, and the active cooperation of our residents," said Lee Hyeon-ju, the county's planning and audit officer. "Going forward, we will use accurate and reliable statistics to closely track changes in the region and the needs of our residents, and pursue policies that deliver real results."
