The 2026 Gunwi Barbecue Festival, organized by the Gunwi Culture and Tourism Foundation in Daegu, drew strong crowds before closing to widespread acclaim.

According to Gunwi-gun, the two-day festival ran Saturday through Sunday at the Samguk Yusa Theme Park, combining the region's premium livestock products with a range of cultural programming to create an autumn food celebration.

The festival's main grilling zone featured more than 40 local food stalls and food trucks offering fresh hanwoo beef and pork platters, whole-pig barbecue, clay-pot barbecue and Gunwi dried chicken, among other local specialties.

Live performances also drew attention from festivalgoers. Singer Lyn took the stage on the first day with an emotive set, while Yoyomi closed out the festival on the second day with an upbeat performance.

Family-oriented activity programs proved popular as well. A large inflatable playground, barbecue skewer clay-craft sessions and sock-yarn keyring workshops gave children and their parents plenty to enjoy throughout the event.

Organizers offered up to 50 percent off admission to the Samguk Yusa Theme Park and ran a cashback promotion using Gunwi Love gift vouchers, easing costs for visitors while encouraging spending within the local economy.

Free shuttle buses running at 15-minute intervals and other transport and convenience measures were also put in place to ensure visitors could enjoy the festival safely and comfortably.

"We are grateful for the support of our visitors and local residents," a Gunwi Culture and Tourism Foundation official said. "We will continue to develop this into a premier food festival that defines Gunwi."
