Two-year term extended through October 2028
MTS and other retail services set for rollout
Next Securities announced Monday that its board voted on Oct. 14 to reappoint Kim Seung-youn as CEO. The new term runs two years from Thursday.
Kim, who took office in October 2024, has steered the company's shift from a derivatives-focused business model toward AI- and video content-based retail services. Following the reappointment, Kim plans to concentrate on launching retail services and ensuring their stable operation.
Next Securities intends to roll out retail services for individual investors in stages, starting with an open application programming interface service before expanding to a mobile trading system.
The company was founded in 1997 as Hyundai Futures and has long operated around derivatives brokerage and investment banking. It rebranded as Next Securities in December 2024 while maintaining its existing businesses as it prepares to enter the retail market. Last July, the company transitioned from a co-CEO structure shared by Kim Seung-youn and Lee Byung-ju to a sole CEO arrangement under Kim, a move aimed at accelerating MTS development and retail expansion.
