At least 4.3 trillion won to be returned from SK hynix cash dividend income
Largest shareholder return since SK Square's 2021 launch
SK Square will carry out its largest-ever shareholder return since its 2021 launch.
SK Square said Monday it plans to return at least 4.3 trillion won to shareholders out of more than 6.2 trillion won ($4.64 billion) in dividend income expected from SK hynix's cash dividend.
In a disclosure of its 2027 shareholder return plan, SK Square said "the financial basis for SK hynix's 2026 cash dividend is more than 30 trillion won, and taking into account SK Square's stake, SK Square's dividend income will exceed 6.2 trillion won."
SK Square added that it plans to "return more than 60 percent of recurring dividend income to shareholders through 2028, and return 100 percent of the special dividend income from Kioxia — announced as part of SK hynix's shareholder return plan — to shareholders."
The shareholder return plan far exceeds SK Square's existing 2026–2028 policy of returning "more than 30 percent of recurring dividend income plus some investment returns."
Compared with the previous policy, the new plan doubles the share of recurring dividend income to be returned to shareholders through 2028, and separately returns 100 percent of the special dividend income generated this time.
"This shareholder return announcement reflects the board's firm commitment to enhancing shareholder value," SK Square said, adding that it "will also carefully prepare new investments based on the principle of rational capital allocation."
All details of the shareholder return plan are to be finalized through relevant procedures after the financial statements for the 2026 fiscal year are confirmed. Earlier this year, SK Square proactively established a sustainable shareholder return structure by converting 5.89 trillion won in capital surplus into retained earnings.
