Former UFC fighter and broadcaster Kim Dong-hyun, known by the nickname "Stun Gun," will compete in a fitness racing event.
HYROX Korea announced Monday that Kim will take part in the AirAsia HYROX Seoul, to be held Nov. 13-15 at Kintex in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.
About 19,000 athletes from 65 countries are expected to compete — more than 3,000 more than at the Incheon event in May, making it the largest HYROX competition ever held in South Korea. Hong Beom-seok, known from the Netflix reality program "Physical: 100," will also compete in three categories.
HYROX is a fitness race that alternates between 1-kilometer runs and functional workout stations. Competitors must complete eight exercise challenges — including sled pushes and pulls, rowing, and sandbag lunges — while covering a total of 8 kilometers.
Participants range in age from 16 to 75, and 25 athletes will compete in an adaptive category for athletes with disabilities. The pro, mixed doubles, and 60-and-over open divisions will also serve as qualifiers for the HYROX World Championships, set to be held in Hong Kong in 2027.
