Promotion runs Nov. 5–15, may end early if budget runs out
Siheung City will offer a 5% cashback promotion for mobile users of its local currency "Siru" from Nov. 5 through Nov. 15, as part of the government-led Korea Grand Festival consumer campaign.
The Korea Grand Festival is a nationwide consumer promotion designed to boost local spending and support sales growth among small business owners. The city secured full national government funding for the event and plans to use it to encourage residents to shop at local businesses and stimulate the local economy.
During the promotion period, customers who pay with the mobile Siru app at participating merchants will receive 5% of their payment back as cashback — up to a cumulative spending limit of 300,000 won ($225) per person — until the budget runs out. The maximum cashback per person is 15,000 won, and recipients can check their payout history through the mobile Siru app.
The promotion operates on a first-come, first-served basis within the allocated budget and may end before the scheduled closing date of Nov. 15 if funds are exhausted.
The city expects the event to meaningfully benefit neighborhood merchants and small business owners by driving more residents to shop locally and stimulating consumer spending.
Hong Seung-il, director of Siheung City's economic affairs bureau, said the city hopes the promotion will expand residents' use of local businesses and bring new energy to struggling neighborhood commercial districts. "We will continue to explore a variety of support measures that can provide practical help for the management stability of small business owners and the revitalization of local commercial areas," Hong said.
