Lotte Mart and Lotte Super announced Monday the exclusive launch of two japchae products featuring packaging inspired by traditional Korean mother-of-pearl inlay designs: the Ottogi Yenal Japchae K-Jagae Edition and the Ottogi Yenal Spicy Japchae K-Jagae Edition. Both can be prepared easily as ramyun.
The two products are repackaged versions of the existing Ottogi Yenal Japchae and Ottogi Yenal Spicy Japchae lines, now dressed in mother-of-pearl patterned packaging. Lotte Mart and Lotte Super said they developed the editions in response to growing japchae demand among foreign customers, positioning them as gift or souvenir options that showcase Korean culture.
The original two products ranked third and fifth, respectively, in ramyun sales at the Zettaplex Seoul Station branch from last year through October this year.
Meanwhile, Lotte Mart and Lotte Super have been rolling out ramyun products tailored to foreign customer demand. In 2024, the retailer exclusively launched the Paldo & Yangban Miyeok-guk Ramyun, a mild, seaweed-soup-flavored product. From November 2024 through September this year, it topped ramyun sales at 10 foreigner-focused stores, including the Zettaplex Seoul Station and Gwangbok branches.
