Philip Morris Korea announced Monday that it has concluded "Happy Sseudam Day," a citizen-participation environmental campaign held as part of its Sseudam Seoul Season 6 initiative.
The event took place Friday and Saturday in the Seongsu-dong area of Seoul, in partnership with the Environment Foundation. A total of 563 participants — including 95 Philip Morris Korea employees — collected more than 340 kilograms of cigarette butts and general waste.
Beyond plogging — picking up litter while walking through Seongsu-dong — the event also featured upcycling and clothing-reform workshops using discarded items, as well as programs encouraging participants to reflect on everyday environmental practices.
Happy Sseudam Day is part of Sseudam Seoul, an environmental campaign that Philip Morris Korea and the Environment Foundation have run together since 2021. The campaign has expanded beyond Happy Sseudam Day to include Sseudam University, a student-led initiative, and Sseudam Filter, a program to clean storm drains, broadening opportunities for public participation in environmental protection.
