Seoul's Dobong-gu has conducted a benchmarking visit to GTX-A's Daegok Station to gather operational insights for building a safe and convenient transfer infrastructure at the future GTX-C Changdong Station.

Dobong-gu said the district visited Daegok Station on Oct. 26 to inspect its control facilities and key rail infrastructure, and rode the GTX-A line to examine its operating systems and passenger safety and convenience management.

The visit was organized to analyze real-world GTX-A operations and apply the findings to the transfer system design and facility safety management of GTX-C Changdong Station, which is yet to be built.

The delegation received briefings at the station's control facility on the train operation control system, real-time safety monitoring and emergency response procedures, and reviewed current operations. The group then boarded a GTX-A train to experience vibration levels, noise and ride comfort firsthand, and inspected the safety and usability of key facilities including platforms and transfer corridors.

Dobong-gu plans to incorporate the operational know-how gathered during the visit into the development of GTX-C Changdong Station.

The district said it will focus particularly on four priorities: building an advanced safety control and disaster-prevention system, optimizing transfer routes connecting subway Lines 1 and 4 with GTX-C, improving pedestrian convenience, and creating resident-friendly above- and below-ground intermodal infrastructure.

Changdong Station is set to become a key transportation hub in northeastern Seoul, linking subway Lines 1 and 4 with GTX-C. The station is also tied to large-scale development projects in the area, including Seoul Arena, making the management of rising passenger demand and seamless transfers a critical challenge as the GTX-C opening approaches.

"This GTX-A site visit was a meaningful opportunity to establish the standards of safety and convenience that GTX-C Changdong Station must meet," District Mayor Kim Dong-wook said. "We will complete GTX-C Changdong Station as a convenient transfer hub where residents can travel with confidence, and as the core transportation infrastructure that will drive Dobong's future development."
