North Gyeongsang Province is launching a promotional push to highlight the quality and taste of its apples to consumers in the greater Seoul area.
The provincial government announced Monday that it will hold the "2026 North Gyeongsang Apple Promotion Event" at Seoul Plaza for three days through Wednesday.
Now in its 21st edition, the event is themed "The Most Radiant Harvest Chosen by the Autumn Kingdom — North Gyeongsang Apples." It is co-hosted by the provincial government and the Apple-Producing Cities and Counties Mayors Council, and organized by the Daekyung Apple Horticulture Agricultural Cooperative.
Fourteen of the province's major apple-producing regions and the Daekyung Apple Horticulture Agricultural Cooperative will participate, offering discounted sales of locally grown apples and processed beverages. The online agricultural products shopping mall Saiso will also run special discount sales to broaden consumer access.
A dedicated "North Gyeongsang Apple Premium Hall" will showcase signature and new apple varieties from all 14 producing regions. The venue will also feature photo zones, including an apple tunnel and inflatable art installations.
Visitors can take part in a range of experiential and cultural programs across generations. Highlights include a "K-Office Worker Apple Time" escape event for working adults, a children's drawing contest, a folk-rock duo performance and an "Apple Kingdom Tower Stacking" competition.
The opening ceremony is set for 2 p.m. Tuesday, with about 950 attendees expected, including North Gyeongsang Province Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs Yang Geum-hee, provincial assembly officials, mayors and county chiefs from apple-producing regions, and farmers.
"I am deeply grateful to the farming households who poured their hearts into growing apples despite difficult conditions," Yang said. "I hope this event will help consumers discover the outstanding taste and quality of North Gyeongsang apples and lead to continued purchases."
