Korea Polytechnics Robot Campus held the 2026 Robot Festival on Thursday at its campus.
The event was organized to nurture future technology talent and strengthen students' employment readiness through a national high school robot competition, a student writing contest and a job fair featuring industry recruiters.
At the 2nd National High School Robot Technology Competition, which drew 15 teams from across the country, Seonhwa Girls' High School's "Yeongcheon Heritage AI Exploration Team" took the grand prize — the Minister of Employment and Labor Award — along with prize money of 700,000 won ($524), for proposing a monitoring system that tracks environmental vulnerability at cultural heritage sites.
The gold prize went to the "Qubit" team from Minjok Leadership Academy.
At the 5th Kkumdeurim Writing Contest, Seong Ji-hye, a student in the Robot IT department, won the top prize for a piece titled "The Person Who Doesn't Use an Umbrella."
Three companies — Jimbo Robotics, FM Solution and SPG — participated in the job fair, presenting information on their core businesses, technologies and department-specific hiring, and fielding employment-related questions from current students.
Campus Dean Choi Mu-yeong said "convergence talent combining technical skills, humanistic sensibility and adaptability to real work environments is the key to future industry," adding that the campus would "actively support students' competency development and tangible employment outcomes by strengthening cooperation with industry and the local community."
Korea Polytechnics Robot Campus, located in Yeongcheon, North Gyeongsang Province, is one of South Korea's leading robot-specialized colleges, consistently posting high employment rates through rigorous, field-oriented practical training.
The two-year degree program has been fully restructured into two tracks — Robot Mechatronics and Robot Systems Convergence — to reflect the demands of emerging advanced industries.
