First research findings from third cohort built last year to be unveiled
Impact of data and AI on employment of people with disabilities also on agenda
A forum will be held to analyze the effectiveness of national employment services from the perspective of people with disabilities and discuss directions for policy improvement. The event will also mark the first public release of research findings from the third cohort of the Disability Employment Panel, established last year.
The Employment Development Institute of the Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities announced Monday that it will hold the 18th Disability Employment Panel Academic Conference on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry's assembly meeting room.
The institute holds the conference annually to enhance the use of four government-approved disability employment statistics and contribute to the development of disability employment policy. This year's event will present the first research results from the third cohort of the policy-specialized disability employment panel, built in 2025.
The main theme is "Analysis of the Effectiveness of National Disability Employment Services from the Perspective of People with Disabilities," with presentations examining the outcomes and challenges of disability employment policy based on new data. Experts from various fields are set to present and take part in discussions, including Kim Do-heon, an associate research fellow at the Korea Development Institute, Oh Uk-chan, a research fellow at the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs, and Lim Ye-jik, a research fellow at the Employment Development Institute.
Before the main presentations, Na Yeong-don, a distinguished professor at Korea University of Technology and Education specializing in AI, will deliver a keynote address on "Data and AI Innovation and Employment of People with Disabilities." The address will examine the broader changes that the spread of data and AI technology is expected to bring to the labor market and explore the direction disability employment should take.
"Behind every number lies the life and choices of a person with a disability, and the change our policies have brought about," said Lee Dong-yeong, director of the Employment Development Institute. "I hope this conference will serve as a bridge connecting research, the field and policy, and become an opportunity for in-depth discussion on the direction disability policy should take."
Further details are available on the agency's website under official notices. Those wishing to attend may register through the QR code on the conference poster or via the pre-registration link.
