The Gimcheon City Council in North Gyeongsang Province concluded its 262nd extraordinary session Friday after holding its ninth plenary meeting, wrapping up a 15-day legislative schedule.

The session, which began Oct. 16, focused on reviewing major business plans for 2027. Council members received briefings from each executive department on key project plans for the coming year and closely examined the city's administrative direction and priorities.

Lawmakers assessed the direction and effectiveness of major projects and offered a range of recommendations aimed at incorporating public opinion into policy and improving administrative efficiency.

At the ninth plenary meeting held on the session's final day, Lawmaker Song Chi-jong delivered a five-minute free speech on "strategies for developing the grape industry," while Lawmaker Jeon Eun-ae spoke on "improving working conditions and protecting the rights of care workers."

Lawmaker Jo Myeong-suk raised questions on the management of Gimcheon's cultural heritage, examining related issues and proposing directions for improvement.

The council also deliberated on and passed a total of 25 bills, including a partial amendment to the ordinance governing the formation and support of lawmaker research groups within the Gimcheon City Council.

Council Speaker Oh Se-gil urged the city administration to carefully review the opinions and policy proposals raised by lawmakers during the 2027 business plan briefings and actively incorporate them into city governance. "Please carry out responsible administration that leads to the happiness of our citizens," Oh said.
