Daegu Urban Development Corp. teamed up with the Daegu Buk-gu Police Station on Tuesday to conduct a joint crime-prevention activity along Sincheon-daero, aimed at creating a safer pedestrian environment.
The activity was part of Buk-gu's facility improvement project to enhance crime prevention in the Sincheon-daero underpass tunnels.
The police station provided crime-prevention consulting and coordination among relevant agencies, while the corporation supported the installation of security fixtures and had employees take part in volunteer activities.
About 30 people — including members of the corporation's Cheonaaram volunteer group and officials from the Daegu Buk-gu Police Station — inspected public restrooms along the Sincheon riverside area, checking for hidden cameras and testing emergency call buttons.
The corporation also supported the installation of security mirrors and emergency call buttons to improve conditions in the aging Sincheon-daero underpass tunnels.
Since 2020, the corporation has worked with police and other agencies to advance crime-prevention projects at public rental housing, and has pushed to improve residential environments through the installation of CCTV cameras, LED lighting and security fixtures.
In recognition of those efforts, the corporation received a commendation from the Korean National Police Agency commissioner general at the 7th Korea Crime Prevention Award in the CPTED category in 2022.
"We hope this activity helps create a safer walking environment for local residents," said Lee Jae-yong, president of Daegu Urban Development Corp. "We will continue to work closely with relevant agencies to carry out social contribution activities that improve public safety and quality of life."
