Hyundai Wia disclosed Friday that it posted sales of 2.46 trillion won ($1.84 billion) and operating profit of 54.7 billion won in the third quarter. Sales rose 14.3 percent from a year earlier, while operating profit climbed 5.5 percent.

The company attributed the sales growth to higher engine supply volumes in South Korea and Mexico, along with expansion in its module and thermal management businesses. Module sales rose 18 percent year on year, and the increase in engine volumes contributed positively to vehicle parts revenue.

Thermal management sales surged 160 percent from a year earlier as air-conditioning volumes increased. With modules, engines and thermal management all expanding, total mobility segment sales reached 2.29 trillion won, up 15.1 percent.

Operating profit grew from a year earlier on a continuing-operations basis despite margin pressures from shifts in product mix and higher materials and logistics costs.

Hyundai Wia plans to reshape its business portfolio around future mobility through the ongoing sale of its special business division. The proceeds and freed-up management capacity will be directed toward growth areas including core mobility components, thermal management and robotics. Through 2035, the company intends to invest approximately 1.8 trillion won in research and development, about 1 trillion won in expanding global production facilities, and around 900 billion won in cultivating new businesses to strengthen its medium- and long-term growth foundation.
