A student team from Yeungnam University of Science and Technology won an encouragement award at the 2026 College Student Smart Mobility Startup Camp, held Saturday at EXCO in Daegu.

The Korean Academy of Automotive Engineers organized the camp with support from the Daegu city government, holding it in conjunction with the Daegu International Future Auto Expo. Twelve teams comprising 56 students from universities across the country participated after about five months of expert mentoring, presenting startup ideas in the future mobility sector.

The team, called YNC Motors and drawn from the Smart e-Automotive department, earned praise for proposing a mobile vehicle underbody management system under the concept "JACKY WASH — Washing and Transport in One."

Jeong Gyu-wan served as team leader and Jeong Sang-jin as deputy leader, with Lee Tae-jun, Lee Jeong-bin and Lee Jae-seung rounding out the team.

JACKY WASH combines vehicle underbody washing, imaging, recording and comparison functions into a single piece of equipment. The system cleans hard-to-see underbody areas while simultaneously capturing images, then stores the results by vehicle so that changes in condition — including corrosion, oil leaks and damage from external impacts — can be tracked and compared over time.

Yeungnam University of Science and Technology President Lee Jae-yong called the result "a meaningful achievement in which students transformed hands-on experience gained through coursework and practical training into creative ideas and a business model," adding that the university would spare no effort in nurturing future mobility professionals equipped with both practical and entrepreneurial skills.
