The Gyeonggi Center for Economic Promotion is accepting applications from companies wishing to participate in its free vulnerability assessment program for cyber incident prevention through Dec. 11.

As digital transformation and cloud service adoption accelerate, cyber threats such as personal data breaches and ransomware attacks are on the rise. Small and medium-sized enterprises, in particular, often lack the dedicated security personnel and budgets needed to independently identify and address vulnerabilities in their externally exposed IT assets.

In response, the center will provide free assessments to help companies identify and address security vulnerabilities that could be exploited in cyberattacks, and will also offer tailored on-site consulting to interested firms.

The program is part of the "2026 ICT SME Information Security Support Project" run by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA).

The center's Gyeonggi Information Security Support Center is serving as the regional implementing agency for Gyeonggi Province, using attack surface management (ASM) technology to detect and analyze IT assets and security vulnerabilities exposed on the internet.

On-site consulting sessions, conducted jointly by information security professionals and university students, will also be available to participating companies.

To that end, the center signed MOUs in August with Ajou University, Hanyang University ERICA and Daejin University, and provided ASM and corporate consulting training to 29 students enrolled in information security and computer engineering programs.

Starting in November, the trained students will visit company sites alongside experts to assess security vulnerabilities and recommend improvements.

Eligible applicants are small and medium-sized enterprises based in Gyeonggi Province that own a domain or IP address. Certain industries and dedicated security firms are excluded.

Interested companies can apply online via the QR code on the program's promotional poster by Dec. 11. Applications may close early if the budget is exhausted.

"Cybersecurity is an essential element for stable management and sustained growth," Gyeonggi Center for Economic Promotion President Kim Hyeon-gon said. "We will continue to support companies in the province by proactively identifying security vulnerabilities they might otherwise overlook, and by helping them build response capabilities together with universities and experts."
