Ulju-gun in Ulsan has been selected for the 2026 KB Financial Group Energy-Saving Facility Support Project, a program administered by the Korea Foundation for Cooperation of Large & Small Business, Rural Affairs.

The selection secures 100 million won ($75,500) in project funding, which Ulju-gun will use to run its "Ulju-gun Solo-Operator Store Brightening Project." The initiative will support about 30 single-operator small businesses running aging storefronts in the county, covering the replacement of LED lights, LED signage and outdated wiring.

Eligible businesses are those that were not selected for either Ulju-gun's small-business operating environment improvement project or the Ulju-gun Small Business Federation's high-efficiency LED lighting replacement program. Recipients will be chosen by priority order through next month.

Support is capped at 2.8 million won per business. On-site assessments will evaluate each store's facility condition and potential energy savings before determining what items and how much support each will receive. Korea Evaluation Data (Kodata), the project's implementing agency, will carry out the assessments.

"This selection will ease the burden of facility improvement costs and electricity bills for small-business owners while creating a safer and more comfortable business environment," County Chief Lee Sun-geol said.
