Three top partners honored; specialist safety training held
Forum hears field concerns, explores mutual-growth initiatives
Kumho Engineering & Construction brought together its key partner companies Tuesday to strengthen safety management at construction sites, listening to challenges from the field and exploring ways to deepen cooperation on occupational health and safety.
Executives from 23 partner firms spanning construction, civil engineering, mechanical, electrical and plant sectors attended the "SAFETY ARTERA" occupational health and safety forum, held Tuesday at the company's headquarters in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
Three partners that achieved outstanding results in safety and health management were honored at the event. Kumho Engineering & Construction President Jo Wan-seok personally presented the commendations and encouraged the partner representatives for their contributions to on-site safety.
Kumho Engineering & Construction also introduced the current operations and key initiatives of SAFETY ARTERA, its partner co-growth program for occupational health and safety. Launched in October last year, the program was designed to strengthen partners' safety management capabilities, offering regular seminars, training sessions and customized technical support through a council of executives and field practitioners.
Specialist training on preventing occupational illness at construction sites was also held. Instructor Lee Du-hang of Shinyoung Labor Law Firm walked participants through major risk factors and emergency response procedures, drawing on real-world cases of occupational illness.
The forum also included a session in which partner executives discussed difficulties they face in managing on-site safety. Kumho Engineering & Construction heard participants' suggestions and exchanged a range of views on improving its occupational health and safety management framework.
The company is also working to build a digital safety management system for its construction sites. In September, it filed a patent for a "smart safety monitoring system" capable of identifying hazardous zones on construction sites in real time. The company plans to expand joint safety management activities with its partners and strengthen field-focused support going forward.
"Safety is the foremost value to uphold at a construction site and the most important source of a company's competitiveness," a Kumho Engineering & Construction official said. "We will continue to raise our occupational health and safety capabilities together through close communication and mutual cooperation with our partners, and build construction sites where every worker can feel safe."
Founded in 1967, Kumho Engineering & Construction operates businesses in construction, civil engineering, plant and environmental sectors under its residential brand ARTERA. With its 60th anniversary approaching in 2027, the company has been pursuing ways to strengthen its business competitiveness, including through open recruitment of new employees last month.
