Daegu's Seo-gu signed a memorandum of understanding with Korea Railroad Corporation's Seodaegu Station on Monday to promote the station's development and foster regional cooperation.

Under the agreement, the two parties will work together to identify and pursue joint projects to revitalize Seodaegu Station and its plaza, as well as improve passenger convenience and the surrounding environment.

According to Korea Railroad Corporation data, Seodaegu Station recorded about 153,000 passengers in September, up more than 20,000 from roughly 133,000 in the same month last year. Average daily ridership rose about 15 percent year-on-year to approximately 5,100.

Building on the agreement, the two parties plan to explore a range of measures to revitalize the station and plaza through ongoing communication and cooperation, with the goal of creating a passenger-centered transportation and cultural hub.

"Through this MOU, we will do our utmost to further activate Seodaegu Station and its plaza in line with growing ridership, and to improve transportation convenience for residents and visitors alike," said Seo-gu District Mayor Kwon O-sang.
