Kiwoom Securities has launched a service that lets users find investment products by entering keywords of interest, even without knowing the exact name of a listing.

The brokerage said Wednesday it has added an "ETF Smart Search" feature to Heroic Gate S#, its mobile trading system (MTS), enabling keyword-based searches for exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and exchange-traded notes (ETNs).

The feature improves on the previous system, which required users to enter a search term matching a product's exact name. With the new service, investors can find relevant products by typing keywords that reflect an investment theme or product characteristic.

For example, searching "raw materials" will surface gold, crude oil and agricultural products even when those words do not appear in a product's official name. Searches by investment approach — such as "asset allocation" or "income" — are also supported. The system links similar expressions that differ in wording, such as "China" and "Chaina" or "gold" and "Gold," to improve search convenience.

Multi-keyword searches are supported as well. Users can enter a combination such as "US government bond currency-hedged" to pull up all products matching those conditions at once.

Keywords were selected based on disclosure materials from asset management companies and Korea Exchange. Broad or informal expressions lacking a clear basis were excluded to reduce the risk of misunderstanding a product.

Kiwoom Securities has been expanding AI and keyword search capabilities within Heroic Gate S# to make it easier for users to find investment information and financial products. Last month, the company redesigned the app's home screen around four main menus — shares, community, products and benefits. This month, it also released a conversational AI search function that lets users ask questions as if chatting with the company's mascot, "Kiuma," to get guidance on menus and market prices.
