South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said Wednesday that the second joint committee meeting under the South Korea-Indonesia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) will be held in Seoul.

A CEPA is a broad economic agreement covering not only the liberalization of trade in goods and services between signatory countries but also investment and economic cooperation.

The meeting — the first since the inaugural session in December 2023 — will bring together delegations led by Park Geun-o, director general for trade agreement policy at the Trade Ministry, on the South Korean side, and Johni Marta, director of international trade negotiations at Indonesia's Ministry of Trade, on the Indonesian side.

The two sides will discuss key implementation issues, including the status of reviews on allowing imports of Indonesian poultry products and South Korean dairy products, and progress on an electronic certificate-of-origin exchange system. They will also explore ways to boost utilization of the agreement.

The South Korea-Indonesia CEPA entered into force in 2023. In a joint statement issued at a summit in April, the two countries agreed to hold regular joint committee meetings to ensure effective implementation of the agreement and expand its use by businesses.
