Donated goods sold at low prices at the Jungnang Donghaeng Sarangnet ESG Sharing Welfare Fair; proceeds to go toward local welfare projects, including the Jungnang Donghaeng Neighbor-Connecting program
Jungnang-gu held the "Jungnang Donghaeng Sarangnet ESG Sharing Welfare Fair" on Tuesday at the lawn plaza of the Jungnang-gu District Office.
The event brought together the district office, the facilities management corporation, the social welfare council and local welfare centers to make sharing and ESG practices accessible and enjoyable in everyday life, and to spread the values of the Jungnang Donghaeng Sarangnet welfare platform among residents.
Sharing sales booths operated by various departments and organizations were set up at the venue, offering clothing and household goods donated by participating staff at low prices so residents could pick up items they needed while taking part in the spirit of giving. By redistributing unused belongings and encouraging reuse, the fair promoted resource circulation, with sales proceeds channeled into donations for neighbors in need — putting ESG values into everyday practice.
The marketplace used a dedicated event currency to make transactions more convenient for participants. A stamp-collection program also ran alongside the sales and welfare booths, allowing visitors to earn stamps and redeem them for various benefits.
This year, proceeds from the fair were deposited as donations into a newly established dedicated account for the Jungnang Donghaeng Sarangnet. Funds collected through the account are set to be used for local welfare projects, including the Jungnang Donghaeng Neighbor-Connecting program, which supports the building of social networks for households at risk of isolation.
Jungnang Donghaeng Sarangnet is the country's first publicly led, resident-linked welfare platform, built around the goal of "400,000 residents helping 400,000 residents." It operates by connecting online and offline welfare hubs through public-private collaboration centered on donation and sharing, and has earned recognition for its innovation and effectiveness through multiple awards, establishing itself as Jungnang-gu's flagship welfare brand.
"This sharing welfare fair is a meaningful event where people can donate unused items, pick up what they need at a low price and naturally help their neighbors in the process," District Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi said. "We will continue working to help residents practice sharing in their daily lives and build a community where everyone looks out for one another."
