Talent recruitment drive held at university career fair
Korea's global talent attraction programs introduced alongside one-on-one consultations
The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency said Wednesday that it operated a talent recruitment booth at a life sciences and health career fair held Monday (local time) at Imperial College London.
Britain is regarded as one of Europe's leading life sciences powerhouses, home to global pharmaceutical companies such as AstraZeneca and GlaxoSmithKline. The initiative was carried out in partnership with three universities at the forefront of life sciences industry-academia collaboration: Imperial College London, ranked second in global university assessments; University College London; and King's College London.
KOTRA introduced South Korea's advanced industry landscape, corporate talent demand and overseas talent attraction programs such as the K-Tech Pass, and held one-on-one career consultations with international students, prospective graduates and researchers.
The K-Tech Pass offers top-tier visas and settlement benefits — covering education, residential support and tax incentives — to outstanding overseas talent in eight advanced industries: semiconductors, displays, secondary batteries, biotech, robots, defense, AI and advanced mobility.
"In an era of technological competition, we are expanding our talent recruitment efforts into areas such as biotechnology, AI and robotics, and advanced materials," said Kang Sang-yeop, KOTRA's executive vice president and head of the small and midsize enterprise division. "As K-biotech overseas expansion and drug development enter full swing, we will do our utmost to make our talent recruitment activities effective by working with the UK — a traditional life sciences powerhouse — and the universities that form its foundation."
Meanwhile, KOTRA is also actively supporting Korean companies' entry into global markets on multiple fronts, including running the "2026 First Step to Exports" program, which helps 300 domestically focused and export-novice companies make their first foray into overseas markets.
