Community Chest of Korea teams up with Kakao Makers
Consumer vote runs through Nov. 3
Winning design to be produced and sold
Proceeds to fund rice for elderly, single-parent households
A charity project combining a popular character with an online platform to help vulnerable groups during the year-end season is entering its sixth consecutive year.
The Community Chest of Korea said it will hold a badge design vote from Wednesday through Nov. 3 in its sixth collaboration with Kakao Makers, Kakao's social-value commerce platform.
This year's badge features Chunsik, a character from the Kakao Friends lineup, alongside the Community Chest of Korea's symbol, rendered in a Christmas concept suited to the year-end season. Consumers will vote among three candidate designs, and the top vote-getter will go into production. The winning badge will be sold in a limited run of 10,000 units from Dec. 7 to Dec. 20. Both the design vote and product purchases will take place on Kakao Makers.
The Community Chest of Korea and Kakao Makers have collaborated on a charity badge every year since 2021, with all proceeds going toward support for neighbors in need. Items funded to date include 874 heating mats, 689 sacks of rice and 487 laptops.
This year, all proceeds from badge sales will go toward providing rice for elderly people living alone and single-parent families. Kakao Makers will also donate winter cold-weather goods it produces in-house — including blankets and fleece clothing — as an in-kind contribution.
