A police officer in his 50s is under investigation on charges of assaulting nightclub employees and customers while intoxicated.

The Daejeon Jungbu Police Station has booked a police officer — identified only as Inspector A — assigned to a community patrol unit in North Chungcheong Province on charges of assaulting four people, including nightclub staff and customers, while drunk, according to Yonhap.

Inspector A allegedly grabbed a female employee in her 60s and a male employee in his 50s by the collar and hair at a nightclub in Jung-gu on Monday afternoon. He is also accused of leaving the establishment and returning to punch two customers in the head.

During police questioning, Inspector A said he had been too drunk to remember what happened.

Police are continuing to investigate the exact circumstances of the incident.
