Encar, an online used-car trading platform, hosted a family open day at its new headquarters Friday, inviting employees' families to tour the new office and joining a social enterprise that creates jobs for people with disabilities in a tree-planting activity.

About 60 employees and family members attended the event, which was organized following the company's move to its new headquarters in August. The aim was to give employees a chance to show their families where they work and to express gratitude for their support.

In the morning, employees personally guided their families through the office. Visitors toured the building, had honorary employee ID cards made and left encouraging messages on a dedicated support wall. Chief Executive Kim Sang-beom welcomed the families with a brief address.

In the afternoon, the group moved to Noeul Park in Mapo-gu, where they joined 20 participants from Able We, a social enterprise that creates employment for people with disabilities, for a tree-planting session. Employees and their families helped plant acorns and saplings and tended to the soil.

Encar also donated proceeds from an in-house auction — held voluntarily by employees during the office relocation — to the Gangseo First Job Support Center, which helps people with developmental disabilities find employment. The company has also been actively working to create jobs for workers with disabilities, including hiring them directly through a partnership with the Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities.

"We organized this event to show our families a workplace we can be proud of," an Encar official said. "It was especially meaningful to take part in a community activity together with our families, and we will consistently keep sharing the company's growth with society."

Meanwhile, Encar has been running a range of marketing activities to improve customer service, including a program that guarantees a full refund to customers who purchase vehicles through its "Encar Midgo" service if the vehicle is found to have a flood-damage history — a measure aimed at easing consumer concerns about undisclosed flood damage in used cars.
