The HD Hyundai 1% Sharing Foundation received a 2026 Presidential Commendation for Red Cross Humanitarian Activities on Monday at a ceremony marking the 121st anniversary of the Korean Red Cross, held at the main auditorium of Woori Bank's headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul. The foundation was recognized for its contributions to spreading a culture of giving.

The HD Hyundai 1% Sharing Foundation is a corporate social responsibility foundation — the first among major South Korean conglomerates — funded by employee donations of 1 percent of their salaries. Since its establishment in 2011, it has pursued a range of social contribution programs, including support for vulnerable groups, disaster relief and community welfare, positioning itself at the forefront of corporate social responsibility and philanthropic culture.

Among the foundation's flagship programs are "Haengbok Hanki," a meal support initiative for the elderly, and "HD119," an emergency relief fund.

The foundation has operated "Haengbok Hanki" in partnership with 14 organizations nationwide since its inception, providing meals to senior citizens. Through "HD119," it delivers donations and relief supplies to neighbors in urgent need due to disasters or accidents.

The foundation also runs a range of other social contribution programs: "Sarang-ui Nanbangyu," which provides heating oil to households that cannot afford it; the "HD Hyundai Honor Award," which identifies and supports unsung heroes across society; "Dream Place," an initiative to improve conditions at aging children's residential facilities; "Make-A-Wish," which helps grant the wishes of children with serious illnesses; and "Masterpiece Studio," a program to nurture artists with developmental disabilities — along with tailored support programs for children, youth, people with disabilities and the elderly.

"This award was made possible by the employees who joined us in practicing the value of sharing," a foundation official said. "We will continue to carry out a wide range of social contribution activities for neighbors in need and for our communities."
