Forests across South Chungcheong Province are ablaze with autumn color this October, reaching the height of the fall foliage season.

South Chungcheong Province announced Tuesday that all of its natural recreation forests are ready to welcome visitors for the peak autumn season.

According to the Korea National Arboretum's autumn foliage tracking service, fall colors in the province's major forests are expected to begin turning in late October and reach their peak in early November.

In preparation, the province completed advance inspections of recreation facilities and forest trails to ensure residents and visitors from across the country can enjoy the scenic woodland safely and comfortably.

South Chungcheong operates 13 public natural recreation forests in total, each reflecting the geographic character and distinct forest themes of its respective city or county.

The forests at Anmyeondo in Taean, Wonsando in Boryeong and Janghang Songlim in Seocheon are known for coastal sunsets and the scent of pine. Yongbongsan in Hongseong and Yeonginsan in Asan offer dramatic rocky ridges and views of the West Sea, while Chilgapsan in Cheongyang, Mansusan in Buyeo and Seongju Mountain Recreation Forest in Boryeong are prized for their lush valley foliage.

Elsewhere in the province, Bongsusan in Yesan overlooks Yedang Lake, Taehaкsan in Cheonan serves as a green retreat within the city, Jumishan in Gongju is rich in forest culture and hands-on activities, Yangchon in Nonsan pairs glamping with woodland scenery, and Nami Natural Recreation Forest in Geumsan rounds out the offering as a hub for ecological forest experiences.

Reservations for lodging and camping at the public natural recreation forests can be made through Sunnuri, the Korea Forest Service's integrated booking platform.

"Autumn is the perfect season to appreciate both the beauty of the forest and the value of woodland recreation," said Lee Yong-gil, head of the province's forest policy division. "We hope people will step away from their busy routines, breathe in the crisp air, and take in the brilliant fall colors at South Chungcheong's natural recreation forests — letting the deepening season restore their tired bodies and minds."
