LG Chem announced Tuesday that it is participating in IZB 2026, the international automotive suppliers exhibition, running from Tuesday through Thursday (local time) in Wolfsburg, Germany.

IZB is a biennial trade fair dedicated to global automotive parts and supply companies. Originally launched as a Volkswagen Group supplier showcase, it has grown into an international event where leading suppliers and materials firms from around the world network and explore business opportunities. This year's edition is expected to draw more than 850 companies from about 33 countries and attract upward of 40,000 visitors.

LG Chem is the only Korean materials company participating in IZB this year, having received a direct invitation from Volkswagen Group. The debut appearance follows an MOU the two companies signed last month to jointly develop materials for future mobility vehicles, an agreement that has since broadened their cooperation.

Under the theme "Powering Customer Driven Innovation," LG Chem's booth showcases high-value materials solutions and technologies in future mobility areas that European automakers are watching closely — eco-friendly materials, electrification, high-performance materials and cost-competitiveness enhancement.

The exhibition places particular emphasis on LG Chem's high-value materials portfolio for next-generation vehicles, covering automotive lightweighting solutions such as metal-replacement and paintless materials, interior and exterior components made with post-consumer recycled materials, battery thermal-runaway delay materials, and a smart glass film for vehicles that adjusts transparency. QR codes at each product display connect visitors to AI-powered audio guides explaining the properties and functions of each material.

LG Chem will also hold dedicated sessions for senior executives from key customers visiting the booth, presenting sustainability strategies using paintless and recycled materials alongside cost-competitiveness solutions.

"This exhibition is an important opportunity to have our technology and product capabilities recognized by global customers including Volkswagen Group, and to further strengthen cooperation in future vehicle materials," said Kim Sang-min, executive vice president and head of LG Chem's Petrochemical Business Division. "We will lead innovation in high-value future mobility based on our differentiated materials solutions and technological capabilities."
