The concerns of residents pursuing redevelopment and reconstruction projects vary widely depending on the stage of each project and the conditions of each zone. Seodaemun-gu is now meeting individually with representatives from 13 designated renewal zones to hear about the difficulties they face and identify where the district can offer administrative support.

Seodaemun-gu will hold an "Urban Renewal Project Association-Administration Cooperation Meeting" over three days — Thursday, Friday and Monday — starting at 5 p.m. each day in the district mayor's conference room at the district office.

Rather than gathering all zones at once, District Mayor Park Woon-ki will meet in turn with association heads and other zone representatives one by one. Each session will cover the current status of a zone's project and any requests from residents, with discussion focused on what administrative support may be needed.

The district's director of urban renewal, the heads of the residential renewal, urban planning and downtown development divisions, and relevant team leaders will also attend. Their participation is intended to give all related departments a shared understanding of each zone's issues and to review response measures suited to each project's circumstances.

The 13 zones scheduled for meetings are, on Thursday: Hongeun 5 zone, Hongje 3 zone, Hongeun 15 zone, Hongje 4 zone and the Hongje Station transit-oriented area revitalization project; on Friday: Bukgajwa 6 zone, the Hongje Station transit-oriented area, the Hongje·Muakjae Station transit-oriented area and the Mapo-ro 5-2 district; and on Monday: Bukahyeon 2 zone, the area around 9-81 Hongje-dong (Culture Town·Gaemi Village), the area around 360 Hongje-dong and the area around 1-5 Hyeonjeo-dong.

The district will review requests raised during the meetings by the relevant departments, and matters requiring inter-departmental coordination will be discussed jointly to determine follow-up measures. Under the principle of respecting residents' views and advancing renewal projects through transparent procedures, the district plans to identify support measures tailored to the conditions of each zone.

"Renewal projects change the very fabric of where people live, so they must be grounded in residents' wishes and transparent procedures," District Mayor Park said. "I will listen directly to the different difficulties each zone faces and find concrete ways the district can help."
