Visit follows bus stop relocation request raised at direct petition meeting
Goyang Special City Mayor Min Gyeong-seon visited the Hyangdong district in Deogyang-gu on Monday to inspect residents' everyday concerns and exchange views with the community.
The visit was arranged to assess on-site conditions related to a bus stop relocation request raised at a direct petition meeting presided over by the mayor.
Min walked the area around the bus stop with residents, reviewing pedestrian routes and road conditions, and discussed the feasibility and necessity of relocating the stop with safety and on-site factors in mind. Because the location proposed by residents is adjacent to the exit of an ecological tunnel, the mayor shared traffic safety considerations with the relevant city departments.
Officials also reviewed applicable laws and standards — including the safety clearance required to create a bus stopping area — and discussed next steps, focusing on matters that will require coordination with the local police precinct and other agencies. The city plans to continue its review based on residents' feedback gathered on site and the findings of the relevant departments.
"Going forward, I will continue to listen to citizens' voices on the ground in connection with direct petition meetings and seek ways to resolve the inconveniences they face in their daily lives," Min said.
