Jongno-gu will host the "2026 Beautiful Jongno Museum Outing" from Thursday to Nov. 18, partnering with 13 museums affiliated with the Jongno-gu Private Museum Council.

The event aims to give residents access to exhibitions and hands-on experiences across a range of themes while boosting public engagement with local museums.

Participating institutions are Gahoe Minhwa Museum, Kim Dal-jin Art Research and Archive Museum, Tteok Museum, Bukchon Oriental Culture Museum, Bukchon Museum, Samsung Publishing Museum, Yeongin Literary Hall, Yugeum Wadang Museum, Jipul Lifestyle History Museum, Chunwondang Korean Medicine Museum, Han Musook Literary Hall, Jonginara Museum and Chojeon Textile and Quilt Museum.

In addition to special exhibitions covering traditional culture, tteok and literature, visitors can take part in hands-on workshops tailored to each museum — making leaf-shaped rice cakes, mother-of-pearl lacquerware boxes and eco-friendly lifestyle goods. Docent programs led by curators and author talk sessions are also on offer.

The opening ceremony will be held Thursday at Chunwondang Korean Medicine Museum at 27 Donahmun-ro 9-gil, beginning at 2 p.m. The program will proceed in order: an opening address, a welcome speech, a celebratory performance and an exhibition tour, with District Mayor Yoo Chan-jong and members of the Jongno-gu Private Museum Council in attendance.

Jongno-gu has distributed 4,000 complimentary tickets to vulnerable residents and children to give them access to cultural experiences.

In addition, half-price admission tickets will be made available to residents, allowing them to enjoy high-quality exhibitions at a reduced cost.

"In Jongno — often called an open-air museum — we want to bring together the district's private museums for a joint exhibition and offer residents a unique cultural experience," District Mayor Yoo Chan-jong said. "With distinctive exhibitions and fun hands-on programs on offer, I encourage everyone to visit Jongno's many museums this autumn."
