Gwangju Bank said Monday it had joined forces with the Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency and the Financial Supervisory Service's Gwangju-South Jeolla Province branch to run a joint voice phishing prevention campaign at the 2026 Gwangju Kimchi Festival, held at the Gwangju government complex of the South Jeolla-Gwangju integrated special city.
The bank operated a promotional booth at the festival to inform visitors about the latest voice phishing schemes and financial fraud prevention guidelines. It also introduced a range of protective measures, including a financial transaction safety block service.
Visitors were advised that if they receive a suspicious text message or phone call, they should stop engaging immediately and verify the facts. Those who suspect they have been targeted can seek prompt assistance through the integrated response center for telecommunications and financial fraud.
