The two-day family festival at Daejeon's Yurim Park aims to bring forest welfare services and culture closer to the public
A family-oriented forest culture festival is coming to Daejeon this fall.
The Korea Forest Service and the Korea Forest Welfare Institute will hold the 2026 Forest Culture Festival at Yurim Park in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, on Nov. 7 and 8, marking the institute's 10th anniversary.
Held under the theme "Green Forest Culture," the two-day event is designed as a participatory family festival where the public can experience and enjoy the forest in an urban setting and help shape forest culture together.
The festival is divided into four zones — Culture, Connection, Fulfillment and Experience. The Culture zone will feature an opening performance and cultural shows, while the Connection zone will offer nature-based hands-on programs run by forest welfare facilities and specialized forest welfare companies from across the country. In the Fulfillment zone, visitors can browse food trucks stocked with forest produce and relax in a reading space featuring titles from the Forest Literature 100 list. The Experience zone will provide free access to a range of programs — forest education, healing, cultural activities and leisure sports — normally offered at forest welfare facilities nationwide, all set within an urban forest.
Further details are available on the Korea Forest Welfare Institute's website.
"We prepared this festival so that all citizens can experience the value of forests in their daily lives and create happy memories with their families," Korea Forest Service Commissioner Park Eun-sik said. "We will work to spread forest welfare services and forest culture in ways that people can truly feel."
