Singer Yoonha has terminated her exclusive contract with agency C9 Entertainment over unpaid royalty settlements.
Her legal representative, law firm Illo, said Monday that Yoonha's side had repeatedly demanded C9 correct a long-running failure to pay settlements, but the agency did not comply. "We notified C9 of the contract termination last month," the firm said.
Yoonha's side said C9 acknowledged through an official notice that the termination took effect Sept. 14.
Yoonha has filed a lawsuit seeking the unpaid amounts, and her team said remaining matters will be handled through legally established procedures.
Her representatives said Yoonha would continue her music career and cautioned against reading the dispute more broadly, noting that other artists and staff under C9 are unrelated to the matter.
Yoonha first signed an exclusive contract with C9 in 2012 and had been with the agency for 14 years.
