Over 1,000 attend, including running clubs and company executives; Chairman Kim Jung-soo completes 13-km course
Samyang Foods said Monday it successfully wrapped up the "Buldak Burning Festa With Pepo," held Saturday and Sunday at Samyang Round Hill in Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon Province.
The outdoor festival featured trail running, camping, food programs and a burning ceremony, offering participants a full day and night of activities on the Daegwallyeong plateau. More than 1,000 people took part, including members of running clubs along with their families, friends and partners, as well as Samyang Foods employees. Chairman Kim Jung-soo and Executive Vice President Jeon Byeong-u both completed the 13-kilometer course. The venue was decorated throughout with Pepo, Buldak's new character.
Side events also drew strong interest. Pepo merchandise handed out at a Buldak booth photo zone sold out within about an hour of the event opening. Game booths — including "Buldak Punch," where participants hit a pad to raise a gauge within a time limit, and "Pepo Touch," a timed button-tapping challenge — proved equally popular, with more than 1,000 products selling out entirely.
A treasure hunt in which participants searched for hidden Pepo eggs drew steady participation from families. Those who took part in the evening burning ceremony capped the night under the open skies of Daegwallyeong before retiring to their tents. On the second morning, wellness programs including yoga and singing bowl sessions were held to close out the event.
