Samsung C&T's construction division announced Monday that it has been selected as the contractor for the reconstruction project in Yongho District 1 in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province.

The Yongho District 1 reconstruction association passed a resolution at its general meeting Sunday to appoint Samsung C&T as the contractor. The project will develop a site in Yongho-dong, Seongsan-gu, Changwon, into a complex of eight buildings rising up to 46 above-ground floors with three below-ground floors, comprising 1,315 units and neighborhood commercial facilities. The total construction cost is approximately 738.1 billion won ($557 million).

Yongho District 1 sits near some of Changwon's most sought-after schools, including Yongnam Elementary School, Bansong Middle School and Changwon Jungang High School, and is close to major government offices such as the South Gyeongsang Provincial Government and Changwon City Hall, as well as department stores and hypermarkets. The site also borders Yongji Lake Park to the south, offering residents a tranquil living environment with unobstructed lake views. Samsung C&T has proposed naming the new complex Raemian Cliere.

The exterior design features a facade pattern evoking a massive waterfall cascading against the backdrop of Yongji Lake. A sculptural installation reaching skyward will crown the top floor of the 148-meter landmark tower, reinforcing the complex's visual identity.

The layout has also been optimized to maximize permanent views of Yongji Lake. By adjusting the orientation and spacing of the residential buildings, the number of units with lake views has been increased from 584 in the original plan to 955, allowing all association members an unobstructed southward view of the lake.

Samsung C&T plans to provide approximately 11 square meters of community space per unit, accommodating 55 programs in total, including a multipurpose gymnasium, group study rooms and a culture classroom. The 46th floor of the 148-meter landmark tower will feature a sky community with a sky lounge, guesthouse and terrace offering panoramic views of Yongji Lake, Jeongbyeongsan and the Changwon city center.

At the heart of the complex, a central plaza spanning approximately 21,450 square meters — about 2.6 times the area of the main stadium at Changwon General Sports Park — will feature 14 themed gardens and roughly 2.4 kilometers of walking paths, creating a landscaped retreat woven throughout the development.

Individual units will feature 2.5-meter-high ceilings and three-sided open floor plans to maximize openness and natural light. The design also incorporates specialized fixtures to improve daily convenience, including a food waste transfer system for on-the-spot disposal.

The complex will also incorporate a range of Raemian's advanced residential technologies: AI-based integrated parking guidance and smart home and vehicle management, the next-generation home platform "Homenik," and first-grade floor-impact noise reduction technology.

Samsung C&T has been selectively pursuing reconstruction projects in regional cities alongside major reconstruction sites in Seoul. Last year, the company won the contract for the B-04 zone redevelopment project in Nam-gu, Ulsan, valued at 698.2 billion won.

Im Cheol-jin, head of Samsung C&T's residential sales division, said the company proposed a differentiated design that takes full account of Yongho District 1's outstanding location and natural surroundings. "We will bring together all of Samsung C&T's design, technology and quality capabilities to deliver the finest landmark development," he said.
