The Korea Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation announced Monday that 10 of its staff members had earned certification through the Ministry of Interior and Safety's AI Champion Certification system.

The AI Champion Certification system is a government initiative designed to strengthen AI capabilities among public-sector workers and develop practitioners who can lead innovation on the job. The program aims to certify approximately 20,000 people by 2030.

In this round, HUG produced two champions at the "Green" level, which assesses AI policy and service planning skills, and eight at the "Blue" level, which evaluates the ability to build and deploy AI services — bringing its total to 10. The figure marks a sharp rise from zero certified staff last year. Those newly certified are expected to take on key roles in spreading AI adoption and driving workplace innovation across the organization.

HUG attributed the results to an organization-wide AI transformation, or AX, vision and strategy led by its president, backed by phased competency training. The corporation has pursued foundational AI and ethics education while working to build an environment where AI can be applied directly to day-to-day operations. HUG is currently developing an AI-based workplace innovation platform and plans to roll out Works AI, a generative AI-powered work-support platform, to expand AI use across its operations.

"The certification of 10 AI champions is the result of our sustained efforts to raise staff AI capabilities and lay the groundwork for an organization-wide AX," HUG President Choi In-ho said. "We will continue to actively apply AI across all areas of our work, transform the way we operate, and pursue an AX that delivers tangible results."

Meanwhile, HUG recently signed an MOU with the Busan Finance Center to promote balanced development of the local community and the financial industry.
