First division-head appointment by President Kim Tae-ho since subway strike settlement; Lee joined the corporation in 1999 as a ninth-cohort recruit
Busan Transportation Corp. announced Monday it has appointed Lee Sang-gon, former head of the management support division, as its new head of management support.
Lee joined the corporation in 1999 as part of its ninth open-recruitment cohort and built his career entirely from within. Over the years he accumulated experience across operations and administration — including finance and accounting, organizational affairs, new business development and transportation services. He also held a series of senior posts, serving as head of sales management and head of sales planning under the sales division (now the passenger business division), before going on to lead the sales division, the accounting and assets division, and the management support division.
"Having worked across so many different roles since my early days on the job, I understand the corporation's situation better than anyone," Lee said. "The management environment ahead of us is not easy, but I intend to navigate it wisely alongside our staff, drawing on that experience."
Busan Transportation Corp. President Kim Tae-ho said the corporation's management challenges were pressing and that he had therefore chosen a seasoned insider with deep knowledge of both field operations and administration. "I will raise the corporation's management to the next level on the strength of that proven expertise," Kim said.
