Residents and university students are invited to bring blankets and duvets to a park near Ewha Womans University for an outdoor autumn film night. Daytime visitors can browse a craft market and catch live performances before gathering in front of an open-air screen after dark.

Seodaemun-gu will host the 2026 Ewha Blanket Cinema at Daehyeon Culture Park (146 Daehyeon-dong) on Friday and Saturday. The event runs from noon to 9 p.m. both days, with screenings beginning at 6 p.m.

Friday's screening features "Little Forest," a Korean film about preparing food and living simply in nature, rated all ages. Saturday's program shifts to the American romantic comedy "Midnight in Paris," set in the French capital and rated for viewers 15 and older.

Visitors who bring their own blanket or duvet will receive a picnic mat on a first-come, first-served basis — 50 mats available each day.

The event was organized in partnership with the Ewha Womans University 3·5·7-gil Merchants' Association. A local commerce tie-in has been arranged so filmgoers can also visit nearby shops.

Visitors who present three receipts totaling 10,000 won ($8) or more from businesses in the Ewha shopping district on the day of the event can receive a random prize — a portable cup, air freshener, snack or similar item. Adult participants who join a social media post event will receive a glass of wine.

There is plenty to enjoy before the films begin. A market selling handcrafted accessories and designer goods will operate throughout the event grounds. From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., street dance performances and a competition will take the stage.

On Saturday, blues band Choi Hang-seok and the Boogie Monsters will perform from 5:10 p.m. to 5:40 p.m., warming up the crowd ahead of the evening screening.

Seodaemun-gu District Mayor Park Woon-ki said he hopes the event draws visitors not only to the film but also to the surrounding shops. "I hope visitors leave with an experience they want to come back for, and that local merchants get the chance to meet new customers," he said.
