Logistics tie-up targets Shopee's 700 million users
End-to-end service covers pickup, customs and local permits
Company eyes 40% non-affiliate sales by 2030
Hyundai Glovis has teamed up with Shopee, Southeast Asia's largest e-commerce platform, to help South Korean cosmetics brands expand into the region.
Hyundai Glovis announced Monday that it signed an end-to-end logistics partnership with Shopee Korea to support Korean cosmetics brands in entering global e-commerce markets, with operations already underway this month.
According to Hyundai Glovis, Shopee is the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan and a major platform in Brazil, with about 700 million users. Its K-beauty category has grown particularly popular, making it a key channel for Korean brands to reach Southeast Asian consumers.
Hyundai Glovis will provide what it calls an "E2E logistics solution" — a single-window service covering the entire supply chain, from domestic cargo pickup and international air and maritime transport to import-export customs clearance, local regulatory permits and fulfillment. The arrangement expands the logistics options available to Shopee Korea sellers.
Korean cosmetics brands have long faced bottlenecks because different vendors handled each stage of the logistics process. Through the E2E solution, Hyundai Glovis aims to cut delivery times and ease the logistics burden on brands so they can focus on their core business. Country-specific regulatory procedures and local logistics processes — often cited as barriers to overseas expansion — will also be handled through a one-stop service, helping Korean brands establish a stable presence in local markets.
The two companies plan to extend the service beyond Southeast Asia to Latin America and other regions.
The partnership aligns with Hyundai Glovis's broader push to grow non-affiliate sales. The company has set a target of raising the share of non-affiliate business to 40 percent of total sales by 2030, and plans to reach that goal by combining its logistics capabilities across land, sea and air with its global network.
"We expect the strong platform reach of Shopee and Hyundai Glovis's global E2E logistics network — including our overseas subsidiaries around the world — to generate significant synergy," a Hyundai Glovis official said. "We will work hard to ensure that logistics is no longer just a cost for Korean brands going global, but a powerful competitive weapon in its own right as K-logistics."
Meanwhile, Hyundai Glovis recently signed an MOU with the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority and a local developer in Pennsylvania to cooperate on expanding Philadelphia's port and operating a finished-vehicle terminal there.
The agreement centers on extending a dedicated site lease at the Philadelphia port — a key finished-vehicle logistics hub on the US East Coast — through as late as 2056, with plans to pursue new site development and entry into the finished-vehicle terminal operations business.
