Seocho-gu in Seoul will hold its "2026 Job Training for Specialty Construction Workers" on Thursday at 2 p.m. in the grand auditorium on the second floor of Seocho-gu Office, targeting representatives from specialty construction firms in the district.

The training was organized to help specialty contractors navigate a construction market downturn by providing practical guidance on construction-related operations and regulatory systems.

The district expects the session to help firms avoid administrative penalties and other disadvantages stemming from unfamiliarity with relevant laws and regulations, and to prevent subcontracting disputes before they arise.

Gu Gyo-hwan, head of the contract policy team at the Seoul chapter of the Korea Specialty Contractors Association, will serve as the instructor for about 100 company representatives and workers. The curriculum will cover specialty construction firm registration and notification systems, prevention of administrative penalties through case studies on illegal subcontracting, and changes to local government construction bidding and contract systems.

A notable feature of this year's training is that the curriculum was shaped by survey responses from last year's participants, centering the content on real-world operational cases across the construction industry. The district said it aims to ensure that attendees can immediately apply what they learn on the job and strengthen their ability to avoid administrative penalties.

"I hope this training helps specialty construction firms build practical capabilities and operate more stably amid external economic difficulties and the construction market downturn," Seocho-gu District Mayor Jeon Seong-su said. "We will continue to listen to voices from construction sites and provide ongoing training to strengthen the competitiveness of specialty contractors in our district."
