Gangseo-gu holds 11th multicultural festival, showcasing traditional costumes, games and food from around the world
Gangseo-gu District Mayor Jin Kyo-hoon attended the 11th Gangseo-gu Multicultural Festival at Magok Square on Saturday, engaging with local residents throughout the event.
Jin presented commendations to five model couples recognized for building harmonious families and making positive contributions to the community, then toured the experience booths and spent time with residents.
The festival was held under the theme "Together is good, embracing diversity." This year it moved to Magok Square, offering a larger venue and a fuller lineup of programs than in previous years.
The event featured a world traditional costume fashion show, cultural performances, and hands-on experiences with traditional games, musical instruments, crafts and costumes from countries around the globe.
A world food zone let visitors sample signature dishes from six countries, including Turkish kebab and Filipino lumpia.
"We prepared programs that let people see, touch and taste cultures from around the world, in keeping with the festival's theme," Jin said. "I hope it serves as a meaningful opportunity to broaden understanding of diverse cultures."
